About
Team Orr Academy Family, we have embarked upon another exciting school year here at Orr Academy High School…and on behalf of the entire staff welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. This year we are embarking upon some great changes that will enhance our students learning and keep them on-track to graduate. We've added an Early Childhood Development Academy and an Information Technology curriculum to further enhance and prepare our students for 21st century technology. At Orr we want all of our students to succeed, and with that in mind we have created a transition academy within the school. The Transition Academy will focus on those students who have fallen behind because of health reasons, personal family crisis and other issues. Sometimes our students are faced with circumstances beyond their control and they may miss school because of some very serious matters. We want our kids to know that the Orr community stands with them in their efforts to succeed in high school. The Transition Academy will allow those few individuals to make the necessary adjustments to their lives to continue in their quest for a high school diploma and post-secondary learning. We believe our entire student population can and will be successful in life.

We are in our third year of turning our neighborhood Chicago Public School around. The strategies and concepts that we've implemented these past years have proven successful. Our students are engaged in higher order thinking and learning skills. Our students are encouraging their colleagues and helping them master critical learning objectives.

Again, it is with great admiration that I welcome you to our school…Orr Academy High School, the first turnaround high school in the United States of America.
